We are a major provider of advice and support services to young people and adults across Yorkshire and Humber. OTLA Officer

Full-time, Permanent

Based in Leeds- working across Yorkshire and Humber

Full-time 37 hours per week £25,000 per annum

An opportunity has arisen for an OTLA Officer. The successful candidate will work within our Quality and Performance Team reporting to our Quality and Curriculum Manager to ensure that our teaching, learning and assessment is graded good or better. The main objectives of the role are:

  • To take a lead role in driving improvement of quality in teaching learning and assessment across our partnership of subcontractors.

  • Ensure our teaching, learning and assessment across the organisation is at least good or better

  • Support partners to carry out OTLA’s to the standard required by Aspire-Igen, through one to one discussion, focussed training and moderation activities.

  • Produce monthly reports on progress towards all learning being good or better.

  • You will have experience of working with Training Providers and of observing teaching learning and assessment in line with Ofsted’s Common Inspection Framework. You will also have experience as a practitioner in a work based learning setting. You must have a Certificate in Education or equivalent and ideally be Level 4 Observation trained.

    You will have a critical eye for detail and be able to present information in a range of mediums. You must be able to work to tight deadlines and be able to communicate well with our Contractors. You will have practical IT skills (including internet, spreadsheets, word processing, database, PowerPoint, email, internet and multimedia). You will be able to manage your own workload and demonstrate enthusiasm, drive and commitment to Aspire-Igen’s values.

    Careers Coach

    1 x Full time, Fixed Term until 31st March 2016, based in York

    1 x Full-time, permanent based in Scarborough

    Full-time 37 hours per week

    Do you want to help change people’s lives for the better through learning and work? Can you successfully support people on their journey into jobs? Then you could be one of our new Careers Coaches.

    Successful applicants will be responsible for contacting customers who have accessed information, advice and guidance to offer follow-up support and coaching to enable them to meet their identified goals. Key to the role will be the tracking of customer progress and securing evidence of progression into work or learning.

    You will be expected to develop effective working partnerships with internal colleagues and external organisations such as employers and agencies to identify suitable opportunities for customers. You will have a keen eye for detail and be able to keep meticulous and up to date records.

    Working in a target driven environment you will be a motivated individual with the ability to record information quickly and accurately and have the confidence and aptitude to work effectively and independently.

    You will have an Information, Advice and Guidance qualification at NVQ Level 3 or above, although suitable alternatives may be considered. You must have previously worked to targets, have excellent ICT skills and competence in using Microsoft packages including excel, Word and Outlook. You also need to be well organised, and be sufficiently flexible and adaptable to meet the changing needs of the job. You may need to travel and work from different venues in the county as appropriate.

    The opportunity has arisen for both a permanent Head of mathematics and Head of English to lead the development of the curriculum across our 16-18 Study Programmes. The Aspire-Igen group delivers vocational training and maths and English qualifications to around 2000 students each year.

    The appointments offer the opportunity to play a key role in driving forward the quality and curriculum offer of the Department of maths and English. The successful applicant will be at the heart of ensuring high achievement, innovative teaching and learning practices and ensuring positive outcomes for all students within the curriculum area.

    In addition to being an outstanding and dynamic classroom practitioner, the successful candidate must demonstrate a proven ability to lead a team, ensure quality, have high expectations and be able to enthuse, motivate and support others to achieve the high standards our students deserve.
