York team – fixed term to 31/3/16
37 Hours between 8.30am and 5.00pm, Monday – Friday
Salary £20,300 to £25,755 pro rata

An opportunity has arisen for a Careers Adviser to join the Company on a fixed term basis, working within our busy and dynamic National Careers Service team. Working in our York premises and those of our partners around the county, you’ll help people to make crucial decisions about their learning and work options
You will be qualified to at least NVQ level 4 in Information, Advice and Guidance (or equivalent) with experience in delivering IAG to a wide variety of audiences in both individual and group settings in a target driven environment. You will be able to organise your own workload effectively, work to tight deadlines, understand common barriers to progression into work or training and have an understanding of current issues relating to the job market.
You will establish and maintain effective relationships with a range of support agencies; keep detailed and accurate records and provide a comprehensive service to customers. The successful candidate will be required to deliver advice and input onto an online system so good communication and ICT skills are essential. Candidates must have access to a car and be willing to travel to all venues as required. A job description is available upon request

Vocational Tutor/Assessor – Business/ICT
Full time, permanent
Based in Hull, with some delivery at alternate locations
Full time 37 hours per week
£26,000 per annum
An opportunity has arisen for a Vocational Tutor/Assessor, within our Learner Delivery Team reporting to our Centre coordinator, who will be responsible for providing delivery of a full range of vocational training and support services associated with our contracted Programmes. This would include teaching and learning, assessment and learner support from Entry to Level 3, leading to further training, vocational pathways and employment opportunities. You would need to plan, monitor, support and train learners on our contracted programmes to ensure planned programmes are completed in a timely manner.
The main objectives of the role are:
To train and teach learners skills in vocational areas the skills needed to ensure that they gain the relevant knowledge and skills that lead to vocational pathways and employment opportunities
To use learning materials that enhance learner’s practical and technical employability skills and prepare them for further employment and/or training and raise motivation and self-esteem.
To contribute to the development of schemes of work, session plans and learning resources to support flexible learning strategies and to meet the learning aims of learners
To contribute to the planning and scheduling process of both teaching, learning and assessment to ensure that learners gain the relevant knowledge and skills that lead to vocational pathways and employment opportunities
To support learners to find suitable work experience placements which support their chosen career path and aspirations, and visit them in the workplace and assess them as part of their Study programme or Apprenticeship to ensure the successful achievement of their programme in line with contractual requirements and targets.
You must have at least two years occupational competence in the vocational area detailed above, and be familiar with Awarding Bodies. You should be able to design and deliver training appropriate to our learners and have previous experience working with young people.
You must have a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, CTTLS, DTTLS or equivalent). A Skills for Life or Functional skills qualification in English, maths and ICT, a D32 and D33, A1 award or Level 3 Certificate in assessing vocational achievement would be desirable but not essential.
