Maths Subject Specialist Tutor

Full time, permanent

Based in Bradford

Full time 37 hours per week £26,000 per annum

An opportunity has arisen for a maths Subject Specialist Tutor to deliver Functional Skills/GCSE maths to students on our Study programmes. The successful candidate would work within our Student Delivery Team reporting to our Vocational Learning Manager to ensure that maths is delivered from Entry to Level 2 associated with Study Programmes. Ability or experience of teaching Functional Skills English would be an advantage. The main objectives of the role are:

  • To deliver maths GCSE and Functional Skills from Entry to Level 2 associated with the Study Programmes and Apprenticeships.
  • To design and implement schemes of work, session plans and resources, contextualise functional skills into a variety of vocational areas, to support functional skills delivery.
  • To be responsible for the teaching, learning, assessment and learner support which leads to further training or employment opportunities.
  • To have worked in a vocational lead setting.
  • To ensure minimum standards of achievement rates are met for Study Programmes and Apprenticeship Delivery in Functional Skills.
  • You will be able to design, deliver and contextualise functional skills appropriate to 16-19 year old learners at a consistently high standard, have previous experience of working with young and/or disadvantaged people, and have extensive functional skills delivery experience across a variety of sectors.

    You must have a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, CTTLS, DTTLS) and a Level 3 qualification in maths. A subject specialism in Numeracy and/or Literacy at level 4 or 5 is desirable.
