CAREERS EUROPE ASSISTANT

Based at Onward House, Bradford

37 hours per week, £20,000 per annum

Careers Europe (Part of Aspire-I Ltd) is the UK’s leading producer of careers information for studying and working abroad. It is recognised by the European Commission as a centre of excellence and it is the UK partner in the Commission’s Euroguidance network, providing a link between the careers guidance community in the UK and its counterparts throughout Europe. Careers Europe produces a major internet based information resource, Venture www.venture-uk.co.uk, maintains its own website www.careerseurope.co.uk and also the Euroguidance website http://euroguidance.eu. It also has a strong social media presence through its Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin accounts.

We are recruiting for an assistant to join our small but highly motivated team. We need an outgoing, well organised individual with good research and writing skills who is comfortable with social media. The use of IT will be a necessity of the job so working knowledge of Microsoft Office will be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be positive about the opportunities offered by travel, work and study in other countries and be able to travel in the UK and Europe.

The successful candidate will also be someone who is confident about meeting and speaking with people, whether in a face to face situation or over the telephone, and whether in a formal or social context.

Although not essential, experience of working, studying or travelling in Europe or beyond would be an advantage, as would ability in other languages. Because of the possibilities for travel in Europe candidates must be citizens of an EU or EEA member state.

Maths Subject Specialist Tutor

Full time, permanent

Based in Bradford

Full time 37 hours per week £26,000 per annum

An opportunity has arisen for a maths Subject Specialist Tutor to deliver Functional Skills/GCSE maths to students on our Study programmes. The successful candidate would work within our Student Delivery Team reporting to our Vocational Learning Manager to ensure that maths is delivered from Entry to Level 2 associated with Study Programmes. Ability or experience of teaching Functional Skills English would be an advantage. The main objectives of the role are:

  • To deliver maths GCSE and Functional Skills from Entry to Level 2 associated with the Study Programmes and Apprenticeships.
  • To design and implement schemes of work, session plans and resources, contextualise functional skills into a variety of vocational areas, to support functional skills delivery.
  • To be responsible for the teaching, learning, assessment and learner support which leads to further training or employment opportunities.
  • To have worked in a vocational lead setting.
  • To ensure minimum standards of achievement rates are met for Study Programmes and Apprenticeship Delivery in Functional Skills.
  • You will be able to design, deliver and contextualise functional skills appropriate to 16-19 year old learners at a consistently high standard, have previous experience of working with young and/or disadvantaged people, and have extensive functional skills delivery experience across a variety of sectors.

    You must have a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, CTTLS, DTTLS) and Skills for Life or Functional Skills qualification in maths. A subject specialism in Literacy and Numeracy at level 4 or 5 is desirable.

    Administrator (Exams Office)

    £18,00 Per Annum

    An opportunity has arisen for an Administrator for our Exams Office to lead on the administration of exams including maths & English GCSE for students on our Study Programmes. The successful candidate would work within our Quality & Performance Team reporting to our Curriculum Development Manager to ensure that student entries for external examinations are managed effectively as well as managing the daily running of examinations.

    The main objectives of the role are:

  • To deliver a high quality service in the day to day running of exams.

  • Submit entries for external examinations to awarding organisations in advance of deadlines

  • Manage the daily running of external examinations. This will include ensuring that all required materials are in the examination rooms for the start of the examinations

  • Make sure arrangements for candidates with special educational needs are in place including offsite examinations, liaising with awarding organisations

  • Disseminate information to staff and students and answer queries

  • dminister examination paperwork within set deadlines and procedures

  • An ability to develop and maintain complex administrative systems and expert ICT skills including data bases are essential. Experience and knowledge of awarding organisation requirements would be advantageous.
